Language is one of the key part of any cultural set-up. It is one of many identities of a person. Hindi is one of the five largest spoken language in the world. Despite being very recent in its origin it has a vibrant literature and tradition. Its literature has never been much recognized at international stage, though the scene has changed this year with a Hindi novelist bagging the Booker Prize. This year is therefore a celebratory time for this language and its speakers.
It, however, is another matter (though extremely important one) that India is lapping up English at maddening speed and the reasons behind this cultural shift is understandable.
Let us forget all this and observe HINDI DAY today....!!
